Search Canadian County Inmate Records

The Canadian County inmate search is run by the Canadian County Sheriff's Office and shows who is currently in custody at the county jail. Anyone can use the roster to search by name, see booking dates, and view charges for people held at the facility. The jail roster is a live tool, not a court history. What appears on the roster can change throughout the day as new bookings come in and releases happen. For anyone trying to locate a person in custody, running a Canadian County inmate search is the first step. The roster also links to a separate list of people released in the last 72 hours and to the VINE notification system for custody-status updates beyond what the local roster shows.

Canadian County Inmate Search Tool

The official inmate search is at ccsheriff.net/inmate-search.php. It shows everyone currently held in the Canadian County Detention Center. Inmates appear sorted by booking date, with the most recent bookings near the top. Each entry shows the person's name, booking date, charges, and additional information where posted. A booking photo may appear on the profile, or the roster may show "no image currently available."

The name search field lets you narrow the list to one person. Type a last name or first name and the roster filters down. The page also carries a direct link to people released in the last 72 hours and a link to VINELink for anyone who may have been transferred or released since the roster last updated. No account or login is needed to search the roster.

The search fields on the Canadian County jail roster are straightforward and few.

How to Use the Canadian County Jail Roster

The steps below walk through a standard name search on the Canadian County Sheriff inmate roster. The process takes about two minutes and requires no special software or account.

  1. Open ccsheriff.net/inmate-search.php in any browser.
  2. Type the person's name in the search box, or leave it blank to browse the full roster sorted by booking date.
  3. Review the results. Each row shows the name, booking date, and charges entered at intake.
  4. Click the entry for more detail, including any additional information posted for that booking and a photo if available.
  5. If the person does not appear on the in-custody list, click the "Released in last 72 hours" link to check recent releases. The full released-inmate list is covered on the released inmates page.
  6. If still not found, use VINELink to search custody status statewide or register for a notification when status changes. VINE toll-free: 877-654-8463.

If a person was sentenced to state prison rather than county jail time, they will not appear on the Canadian County roster. Use the Oklahoma Department of Corrections lookup for state inmates or the BOP locator for federal cases.

What a Canadian County Inmate Profile Shows

Each entry on the Canadian County jail roster is a snapshot of the booking, not a full court record. The roster tells you who is in custody and what charges were entered at intake. It does not show court hearings, dispositions, or sentencing outcomes. Those belong to the Canadian County District Court case file, which is searchable through OSCN at oscn.net. The distinction matters. A person can be booked into jail before any charges are formally filed, and the court record only appears in OSCN after the District Attorney files a case. Booking charges and filed charges are sometimes different.

The fields shown on a typical Canadian County inmate profile are listed below. Some fields are research-confirmed; others noted with a gap are common in jail roster systems but were not fully confirmed as public-facing in the Canadian County roster at the time of research.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameFull name as entered at booking into the Canadian County jail.
Booking DateDate (and sometimes time) the person was checked into the Detention Center.
ChargesOffense or offenses listed at time of booking; may update as the case develops.
Additional InformationSupplemental notes posted by the jail, which may include hold status or other details.
Custody StatusIn custody on the active roster; released on the 72-hour released-inmate list.
Booking PhotoMugshot if available; may display "no image currently available" for some entries.
VINE NotificationLink to register for custody-status alerts through the VINE system.

Fields such as date of birth, height, weight, arresting agency, bond by charge, court date, and cell assignment are common in jail systems but were not confirmed as publicly visible in the Canadian County roster. Contact the Detention Center directly at (405) 422-3188 if you need those details.

Canadian County Detention Center Contacts

The Canadian County Detention Center holds both pretrial detainees and sentenced offenders serving county-level time. The facility has 194 inmate beds and is staffed by 35 full-time detention officers and deputies. Sentenced offenders who receive longer terms may transfer to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections instead of serving all time at the county jail. The jail contracts with a private medical vendor that provides daily medical services, including a full-time nurse, regular doctor visits, and primary mental-health services.

The Detention Center and the Sheriff's administrative office are at two different addresses in El Reno. Use the jail phone line for custody questions and the main office line for other sheriff matters.

About Canadian County Sheriff Chris West

Sheriff Chris West has led the Canadian County Sheriff's Office since January 3, 2017. He ran unopposed for a second term in 2020 and won a third term on June 18, 2024, with 81.83 percent of the vote. West is a fifth-generation Oklahoman and lifelong Canadian County resident. He graduated from Yukon High School in 1980 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning an honorable discharge as a Non-Commissioned Officer in 1984.

Before becoming Sheriff, West spent 29 years with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and retired from the Highway Patrol as a Captain on December 31, 2012. He was appointed Undersheriff after that retirement, then took the elected Sheriff post. His credentials include the Advanced Oklahoma Law Enforcement Certification, more than 4,000 hours of training, a firearms-instructor certification, and FEMA/NIMS certifications. He holds an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Redlands Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership from Southern Nazarene University. He graduated from the FBI National Academy (216th Session, 2004), the Oklahoma Sheriff's Academy (2013), and the DHS Leadership Academy at FLETC in August 2024. He served as Oklahoma Sheriffs' Association President in 2021-2022, was named OSA Sheriff of the Year in 2019, and was sworn in as President of the National Sheriffs Association in June 2025.

Booking and Custody in Canadian County Jail

When a person is arrested in Canadian County, they are ordinarily taken to the Detention Center at 304 N. Evans in El Reno for intake. Booking includes property inventory, a photo, entry of warrant and charge information, and placement pending bond, court appearance, transfer, or release. The process is the same whether the arrest was by a Sheriff's deputy, a city officer, or another agency serving a warrant.

Jail records and court records are two separate systems. The sheriff's roster shows custody status. The District Court case file, searchable through OSCN at oscn.net under Canadian County District Court, shows the charges the District Attorney formally filed, hearings scheduled, bond amounts set by a judge, and how the case ended. A person may appear on the jail roster for days before a court case shows up in OSCN, and a case may remain in OSCN long after the person has been released from custody.

Bond timing in Canadian County is strict. Cash-only bonds must be posted in cash before 3:30 p.m. Bondsmen post at the jail as long as the person is signed in with the Court Clerk's office. No financial transactions happen at the Court Clerk's office after 4:15 p.m. Cash means cash; the Criminal Department does not accept cashier's checks, money orders, or credit cards for a cash-only bond. For court-related criminal payment questions, the arrest records page covers the payment process in detail.

VINE Notifications for Canadian County Inmates

VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is Oklahoma's custody-notification system. The Canadian County Sheriff links to VINE directly from the inmate-search page because the jail roster does not automatically alert anyone when a person is released or transferred. VINE fills that gap. Anyone can search an offender's custody status through VINE and register to receive a phone or email alert when that status changes.

The VINE toll-free number is 877-654-8463. The online portal is at vinelink.vineapps.com. To use it, select Oklahoma, enter the offender's name or available identifier, and follow the steps to set up a notification. VINE is especially useful if a person was transferred out of the Canadian County jail to another facility or to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, because the local roster will no longer show them once they leave county custody.

For a deeper look at the release process and how to track someone who has left county custody, see the released inmates page.

Canadian County Inmate Visitation Hours and Rules

The Canadian County Detention Center uses Prodigy for video visitation. Visitors create an account with Prodigy to receive video calls from an inmate in custody. Visitation privileges are available to all inmates but may be restricted based on inmate or visitor conduct or for jail security reasons. Visitors must be at least 18 years old or have a parent or legal guardian present during the session.

Remote visitation is blocked during certain time windows each day. The schedule below is drawn from the sheriff's visitation page at ccsheriff.net/inmate-mail-visitation.

Time WindowRemote Visitation Status
7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.Allowed
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.Not allowed
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.Allowed
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Not allowed
7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.Allowed
10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.Not allowed

For Prodigy customer support, call (866) 700-4545 or visit prodigysales.com.

The dress code for remote visits matters. The jail may deny or terminate a session if a visitor appears in inappropriate clothing. Conduct that is sexual or criminal in nature can end a visit and result in a ban from all future sessions. A person who was themselves incarcerated at the Canadian County jail may not visit any inmate for six months after their own release, unless approved by the Jail Administrator.

The mail and visitation page from the sheriff's website appears below. Visit ccsheriff.net/inmate-mail-visitation for the current rules before setting up a session.

Checking the visitation schedule ahead of time helps avoid a failed connection due to blocked hours or a denied session from a dress-code issue.

Attorney Visits

Attorneys of record must schedule visits at least 24 hours in advance. Call Judicial Services at (405) 295-6216 or (405) 434-2829. Visits are not conducted during shift changes, meal times, or between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Attorneys must show a photo ID and an Oklahoma Bar Association membership card before meeting the client. Paralegals, investigators, law students, or out-of-state attorneys may visit on the attorney's behalf with a letter on attorney letterhead stating they work on that inmate's case.

Canadian County Inmate Commissary and Money Deposits

Commissary orders must be completed by Tuesday evening before 5:00 a.m. Money orders are not accepted for commissary deposits. Funds can be added by credit or debit card at any time through the web deposit portal at deposits.jailatm.com. Cash or card deposits can also be made in person at the kiosk in the lobby of the facility. Money left in a commissary account at the time of release may only be retrieved by the inmate upon release, not by a third party.

The commissary page at ccsheriff.net/inmate-commissary shows the deposit options and ordering rules. The screenshot below is from that page.

Using the JailATM web deposit portal lets family and friends add funds from anywhere without visiting the Canadian County Detention Center. Prodigy manages both the video visitation platform and the commissary deposit system for the jail.

Note: Commissary accounts are separate from court-ordered fines and fees. Court payment questions go to the Canadian County Court Clerk Criminal Department, not the jail commissary.

Canadian County Jail Roster vs District Court Records

The Canadian County Sheriff's roster and the Canadian County District Court case file are two separate systems. They are connected by the same person and often the same event, but they serve different purposes and are held by different offices. Knowing which record answers which question saves time and avoids confusion.

  • Jail roster: in-custody status, booking date, booking charges, photo, VINE link.
  • OSCN court record: filed charges, hearings, orders, judge assignments, bond amounts set by a judge, and case dispositions.
  • Released-inmates list: persons released from the Canadian County jail in the last 72 hours.
  • VINE: custody-status changes including transfers out of county custody and releases from any holding facility.

The Court Clerk's office at 301 N. Choctaw in El Reno holds the District Court records. Court Clerk Holly Eaton's office is the keeper of the official case file. The online OSCN portal at oscn.net is the starting point for court lookups. A person may appear on the jail roster before any District Court case opens, and OSCN records may remain long after the person walks out of custody. The two systems do not automatically sync.

For current population data and facility capacity, see inmate population. For warrant information tied to a court case, see warrant records. For broader criminal case history, start at arrest records.
